2022-07-18

Not all of us love stilettos. The reasons why we opt for flat shoes to go with a dress vary. Most often we are driven by comfort, especially when we know we have a few hours on our feet ahead of us or want to dance the night away. Sometimes the reason can be our tall height. We don't like to look down on others or we don't want to be taller than our partner. Still another motivation could simply be our individual taste. After all, well-fitting flat shoes with a dress look stylish and can be very fashionable.

Flat shoes to go with the dress – do they match?

Choosing the right footwear to go with a dress is by no means an easy task. And while many ladies automatically opt for stilettos, platforms or block heels, that doesn't mean we can't go against the grain. Special flat shoes worn with a dress even have their historical justification. After all, their pedigree dates back to the 1950s, when jive and rock and roll were rampant on American dancefloors. Dancers were keen to switch to flat slippers or trainers, which went perfectly with flared skirts. As we can see, flat dress shoes are not at all a modern concept. Today, we wear them not only to dance, but in any situation where we care about comfort.

How to wear flat shoes with your dress?

Of course, it shouldn't look like we're wearing any flat shoes with the dress we want to wear. This duo has to blend well, even if we want to achieve this by means of contrast. The key, of course, will be the occasion. If you're going to school or to a job where there's no dress code, go ahead and opt for trainers, trainers or trainers. Ideally, they should be colour-coordinated with the rest of your outfit, but this is not necessary. Among young people, juxtaposing seemingly incongruous elements is an expression of fashionable nonchalance. A completely different approach is needed when it comes to formal wear at work. In such a situation, it's hard to find more appropriate flat-heeled shoes to go with a dress than the ballerinas adored by Polish women. The choice of models is so vast that we are sure to find one to match our wardrobe.

Elegant flat shoes for a dress – which to choose?

This combination may seem like a challenge, but it doesn't have to be. The slippers, styled like a man's oxford shoes, will go perfectly with a suit, a dressmaker or even a princeska, as well as any dress with a jacket or a blazer. If you are a fan of classics and minimalism such a set will be a hit. Once again, ballerinas or low-heeled pumps will also work well as flat shoes to go with the dress.

Flat shoes to go with your wedding dress – which to choose?

Are flat shoes for a wedding dress a good idea? In our opinion, absolutely, and not just for comfort reasons. Once again, ballerinas will be the ideal solution. Another option is elegant sandals, provided the event takes place in summer. An interesting idea are models that are a combination of ballerinas and sandals, for example with a covered toe, an open heel and a strap around the ankle. Such flat shoes for a wedding dress will be a hit and you will make a furore in them, even if you are the bride.

Flat shoes to go with your dress for spring

In spring, we eagerly switch to lighter footwear and wardrobe, although the weather can still be capricious. As the ideal flat-heeled shoes to go with a dress, flat boots of any kind will work. They have a higher upper, which will give us thermal comfort and protect us from the rain. In spring, trainers and trainers start to reign supreme on the streets, which also go with dresses and skirts.

Flat shoes to go with your dress for summer

Sandals, ballerinas, trainers - the choice of flat shoes to go with a dress for summer is really huge. Different types of sandals are, of course, king - from the sporty style ones that you will wear with everyday dresses to models with fancy straps, fastenings or embellishments. When it comes to covered footwear, the material from which the footwear is made will be an important consideration. It's important that your feet can breathe and don't sweat. Flat shoes to go with your dress for autumn

Autumn is the time of year when we return to comfortable boots. Of course, it can go through the whole autumn in sneakers, as long as they are made of waterproof material. Let's not forget boots and jackboots, which will work perfectly as flat shoes to go with a dress for autumn. We can wear them with both casual and more formal outfits. They will go great with a long coat. The height of the boots makes a big difference when it comes to matching them with a dress. For a mini, opt for knee-high boots. The lower, below the knee ones go better with long, wide and pleated dresses.

Flat shoes - do they suit every figure?

There used to be a lingering belief that only tall and long-legged models could afford flat dress shoes. This is a hurtful myth that is not worth repeating. The only thing you need to keep in mind when choosing flat-heeled shoes for a dress is proportions. A midi dress, i.e. a mid-calf length, combined with ankle boots is indeed a poor combination that optically shortens your legs. It's just a matter of not exposing too small a section of the calf, as this looks unfavourable. You can also wear low-heeled sandals, trainers, boots and flat heeled boots with both mini and maxi dresses.

Dress and flat shoes - styling

Still not sure if flat-heeled shoes with a dress is a good combination? Try our styling ideas and you'll see that it's a great duo:

  • In the style of Audrey Hepburn - The famous actress from 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' was also a fashion icon whose style is still imitated by successive generations today. One of her trademarks was ballerinas. Classic, black, with a rounded nose, often with a cute bow, they are still one of the most popular models. It's worth having one in your wardrobe if you want to wear flat shoes with a dress.
  • Youthful - Do you like to play with fashion and break convention? Wear sporty flat shoes with an airy dress. Its length doesn't matter. Sneakers go well with both short and long cuts.
  • Fashionable boho - The boho style, also known as ethnic, has reigned supreme on the streets and at music festivals for many seasons. Which flat shoes will go well with a patterned dress? The best choice would be suede boots or cowboy boots. Wear with a wide-brimmed hat and lots of jewellery.
  • In a masculine way - with a pinch of salt, of course, because styles such as oxfords or classic flat shoes styled as men's slippers have long since entered the women's wardrobe. And that's a good thing, because they look extremely stylish and even avant-garde. Black oxfords or jazz shoes are flat shoes that you can wear with a business-style dress, preferably a simple one in an elegant material. Top it off with a loose, extended jacket and you are the epitome of good taste. Remember to wear this type of footwear without socks, or alternatively opt for footbeds.
